Fabrications
Soakers
Soakers are a weatherproofing solution to roofs and walls for penetrations such as smoke vents, pipes, ventilation, skylights and roof access.
Inner soakers are usually made from
galvanised steel, which is a load bearing
material.
For the outer soaker, we recommend
aluminium, which can be fully welded to
ensure 100% water tightness.
Aluminium can be powder coated to match the colour of the roof and walls.
Potential Solutions
Proprietary rubber gaskets can be used on vent pipes or other small penetrations. These consist of pre-formed EPDM or silicone rubber below gaskets with a pliable aluminium strip around the periphery, which can be worked around the shape of the profile.
The edge is bedded with gun grade sealant such as silicone and fixed with sealed rivetts or sticher screws.
Larger openings will require a purpose made soaker to blend into the surrounding condition.
